Public's Help Sought To Find Possible Hit-And-Run Victim

Posted: Updated:
EVESHAM TWP., N.J. -

Police in Burlington County, N.J., needs the public's help for information about a possible hit-and-run.

An officer stopped a car along East Main Street near Knox Boulevard in Marlton on Tuesday night.

The car, a 1997 blue Ford Taurus, had extensive front-end damage.

Police say the 81-year-old remembers hitting something or someone, but he doesn't recall where or when it was.

Tests on hair and blood found in the Taurus's windshield have shown it is, in fact, human hair and blood, according to state police.

Police say the accident likely happened within a one-hour radius of the Cherry Hill Mall anytime between 6 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on Tuesday. So the search area includes Camden and Burlington counties.

No one has shown up at local hospitals with injuries resulting from such an incident.

Police have since been driving around and even flying over the area, trying to find any evidence of a possibly injured or killed pedestrian. Investigators even took the unusual step of putting the man in a police car to try and find the route he took to see if anything helped him remember.

If you saw anything involving a car matching this description, please call police.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley is reporting live from Evesham this morning and filed the above video report.
