Four men now face theft and criminal mischief charges after Philadelphia Police say an off-duty officer witnessed them attempting to steal metal grates from the southbound side I-95.
According to police, the off-duty officer spotted the group removing the metal grates, which belong to PennDOT, around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the men placed the grates inside a silver Ford E-250 van.
The van was later stopped by police on the 4900 block of Aramingo venue.
Polices say the grates were recovered and returned to PennDOT.
Thursday weather looks damp and stormy. It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms. Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.
This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
