The interim director of the Police Advisory Commission in Philadelphia says the group will examine the arbitration system and how officers are disciplined in the wake of a video that shows a police lieutenant hitting a woman.
Kelvyn Anderson appeared Friday morning on "Good Day" to discuss the role of the commission and the video that captured Lt. Jonathan Josey hitting a woman.
Anderson says the commission works as an external oversight agency of the Philadelphia Police Department.
"We do want to know why a veteran lieutenant lost his cool like that," Anderson said on "Good Day."
Josey appeared at police internal affairs bureau on Thursday, where he was notified of his suspension with intent to dismiss.
The high-ranking officer of the Highway Patrol Division was captured on video striking a woman to the ground during Sunday's Puerto Rican Day festivities. The woman, who was later identified as Aida Guzman, was then escorted away by two other officers.
Guzman told FOX 29 earlier this week she wanted justice. Charges against her have since been withdrawn, and Mayor Michael Nutter even took a meeting with her Friday.
You can watch the "Good Day" interview from Friday morning in the video above.
