The 17th annual Great Lakes Regional Chili Cook-off will be held in Kellogg Park in downtown Plymouth on Sunday, Oct. 14, along with a motorcycle show, live bands, and kids activities.

Here are the chili recipes featured on FOX 2 News Morning:
Picnic Basket Chili
Ingredients: 1 1/2 lbs lean hamburger 1 1/2 lbs chorizo 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp cumin 1 tbsp sugar pinch salt pinch pepper pinch garlic fresh or ground 1 qt diced tomatoes 1/2 cup tomato juice 1 1/2 cup tomato sauce 1 can of 15oz chili beans 2 diced peppers 1 diced onion
Method: Cook your meats and season with salt, pepper and garlic. After meat cooked drain. Peppers and onions can be sauteed separately or cooked with the meats. Season meat with all ingredients including 1/2 tsp red pepper. Cook and adjust spices according to your own liking. After cooked top with sour cream, shredded cheese and diced onions.
MGM Grand Detroit Tap's Short Rib Chili
Yield 10 gallons
Ingredients: 10 rancho chili peppers - rehydrated, seeded & pureed in water 1 cup ground cumin ½ cup chili powder 2 gallon water 15 pounds short rib beef med diced 3 pounds bacon diced 10 each onions, julienne 8 each red peppers julienne 20 each garlic cloves, minced 3 each jalapenos, chopped 20 diced tomatoes fresh 4 bunches cilantro chopped 3 cup tomato paste ½ can chipotle peppers puree 8 lemons squeezed 3 pounds or 10 cans black beans 3 pounds or 10 cans pinto beans salt, pepper, lime, pepper flakes, and water to finish
Method: Render bacon, add onions, peppers, jalapenos, garlic and caramelize. add beef, rancho paste, cumin, oregano, and brown. add tomato paste. Mix well. Add water and simmer 1.5 hours. Add tomatoes, pepper flakes. black beans, chili beans and braise for 3 minutes or until beef is tender. Finish with, cilantro, salt, pepper and lemon juice. Add water if necessary.
E.G. Nick's Turkey Chili
Ingredients: 2 white onions small dice - steam together 1 green pepper " 1 sml stalk celery " 2.5 pounds ground turkey (brown and drain fat) 4 sml cans diced tomatoes 1 sml can tomato sauce 1 bottle of lite beer 8oz salsa 1 sml can kidney beans 1 cup BBQ sauce 1/2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp Black pepper 1/4 tsp Blackening season 1/4 tsp Granulated Garlic 1/4 tsp oregano 1/2 cup marinara sauce
Method: Steam together onion, green pepper and celery. Add to cooked turkey meat. Add remaining ingredients, simmer until thickened.
