'Jackass' Star Bam Margera Sorry For Taking Aim At Pets

Posted: Updated:

Jackass star Bam Margera posted Twitter pictures of himself taking aim with a play pistol at the heads of two of his pets.

He says it's all a joke. But Margera has 820,000 Twitter followers, and many of them are young, impressionable teens.

Animal lovers are not happy with the recent gun-toting pictures he has posted on his account.

"Depictions of anything negative with animals, any violence with animals is really not funny," said Chester County SPCA spokesman Rich Britton who also hosts a radio show called Passionate About Pets.

Bam posted the pics after his seven-week-old Pit Bull puppy messed in his bed.

The caption beneath the posted photo reads: "Penny pooped in my bed. If it happens again Penny goes bye byes!"

Bam sat down with us at his West Chester home to talk about the backlash.

"I'm on 'Jackass, 'so I like humor like that, and I I like shock value purposes," Margera said.

He showed us Trouble the cat,  lounging around on a couch, living the life

Then he apologized while showering Penny with kisses.

"Sorry if I offended anybody. But I'm an animal lover and I'd never hurt this dog in a million years, and the gun is a fake gun."

Despite Margera's apologies, his gun-toting image is tough to take because of recent cases of dog abuse in Chester County. A Yorkie-mix was one of two dogs set on fire and found dead over the summer.

"I wasn't aware of that going on," Bam said sitting with his girlfriend Nikki Boyd. "But, yeah, I didn't want to offend anybody. I just wanted to make people laugh."

But the SPCA's Britton said, "We know Bam in this area as a great celebrity with a huge following. People love him, and we understand he's a big animal lover. So we really urge him to take these negative images to turn them into something positive to really help animals."

Margera said, "I just like to joke around. I would never, ever in a million years ever hurt a dog or a cat or any animal."

The last laugh may be on Margera. A source tells FOX 29 News that state police are looking into this incident. There's no word on what type of charges he might face.
