A suspect who police say made threats against the school buildings of the Bristol Borough School District prompted district officials and police to put the school in lockdown Thursday afternoon.

All school buildings in the Bristol Borough School District were placed on lockdown at 2:20 p.m.

By 4:05 p.m., the district announced on its website that police had taken into custody a suspect believed to have made a threat against the schools.

"I would like to thank everyone for remaining calm during this unfortunate incident," a district statement read on its website.

"Our procedures worked exactly as they are planned. The students were safe and they conducted themselves in exceptional fashion."

Fox 29's Shawnette Wilson reports a man called Philadelphia Police and made a threat to the schools. Officers in Philadelphia quickly notified members of the Bristol Police Department, who then notified the school.

Police say they managed to obtain a name and address of the caller. They found him a half mile from the school buildings in the area of Bath and Otter streets.

SkyFox flew over the scene during the lockdown as several police cars could be seen parked outside of an entrance to one of the buildings.
