"The only way I've made it through is my petition for the sidewalks for New Falls. The support has been actually really overwhelming. Today we had 2000 and I think when I left work it was 2,034 so we're getting there," sobbed Sharon Rearick. It's been a rough three months for Sharon and husband James. A driver hit their son on New Falls Road in Levittown and kept going.
"To get that call in the middle of the night was heart wrenching," said Sharon. Her son, 23-year old John, died six days later in the hospital. Since then it's been his mom's mission to get sidewalks installed along the road where he was killed.
"He was walking along the Middletown section of the road where there's obviously no sidewalks," she said. A memorial now marks the grassy spot where John was hit. Sharon believes he stepped out into the street to get around an overgrown tree when it happened. Surveillance video from an auto body shot captured the tragic accident.
Sharon says she never thought about the danger on the road with few sidewalks are rare and mostly in front of businesses.
"I'll be honest, until this happened to my son, I didn't realize how dangerous this road was driving up and down it, I was frustrated that people were in the street," said Sharon who plans to take her petition to PennDot then the township for backing.
"Just so another family doesn't have to go through it," she said.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.
The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday. That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.
By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain. It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
