D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier may be asked to testify in a lawsuit stemming from mass arrests of hundreds of protesters 10 years ago.
That's according to a ruling from U.S. Magistrate Judge John Facciola, who says he may seek Lanier's testimony in hearings that could take place early next month.
Facciola says he wants more information about a directive from Lanier on who would investigate an apparent attempt to delete electronic evidence.
Facciola is acting as special master in a lawsuit stemming from arrests of demonstrators at Pershing Park during 2002 protests of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank meeting.
Though most protesters who sued have reached multi-million-dollar settlements, several former George Washington University students who were arrested still have pending cases.
