WASHINGTON -
The White House was illuminated pink Monday night to mark the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The tradition began in 2009 with former President George Bush.
Nine London landmarks, including the Buckingham Palace, were also lit pink.
According to the center for disease control more than 200-thousand women are diagnosed with the disease every year.
