GAY, Ga. -
In Tuesday's Get Up and Go, our destination is the town of Gay, Georgia and the year 1910. Life around Gay revolved around cotton back then: growing cotton, picking cotton, and storing cotton.
This weekend, the farmhouse, the cotton gin and the cotton warehouse serve as a backdrop for two days of festival fun.
There will be arts and crafts of all kinds from pottery and quilts to birdhouses and puppets. You'll find lots of things to eat there and many things to take home like delectable jams and jellies. The entertainment schedule includes fiddlers, dancers, puppeteers, and even a FDR historical re-enactor.
The Cotton Pickin' Fair is this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Highway 85 in Gay, Georgia. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for kids 7 to 12, free for those 6 and under.
