Wild Turkeys Parade Through Voorhees NJ Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
VOORHEES, N.J. -

A neighbor describes the sound that brought everyone on her street out of their Vorhees homes Saturday morning.

"It was like a cat and a turkey all put together."

Even more shocking than the sound is what caused all the commotion.

"We saw big wild turkeys," said 6-year old Cade who certainly has an imagination as he tried to draw what he saw using his sidewalk chalk.

"They came in our front yard," he said. But this isn't a tall tale. "They were walking in the street," continued Cade. He and his little brother Carson had a front row seat to the show.

"It was cool," said Cade.

Jennifer O'Drain's husband shot video with his cell phone as she watched. "They didn't look that friendly," said Jennifer who said more than a dozen wild turkeys paraded along Sequoia Street. After strutting their stuff, then the finale.

"They went right in the front and then all of a sudden I didn't know turkeys can fly but they were on top of the roof," says Jennifer in amazement. Still she described it as really creepy and weird. Immediately after, the O'Drain's put up Halloween decorations. Jennifer hopes they'll keep the turkey's away. If not, Thanksgiving's not too far away.

"They were huge so it would have been a very good meal for the entire neighborhood," joked Jennifer.
