Office shooting victims laid to rest, Accent Signage vows to reopen

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Four days after the deadly workplace shooting in Minneapolis, plans are in the works to reopen this week. But before moving on, family, friends, coworkers and the community are saying goodbye to those killed last Thursday afternoon.

Accent Signage is hoping to open the doors, at least in some way, on Wednesday. That's going to be a tough task, considering the grief and trauma employees and the surrounding Bryn Mawr neighborhood experienced.

Crime scene clean-up crews worked through the weekend to try to erase some of the signs that five people, and the gunman, died in a violent shooting rampage.

Police say Andrew Engeldinger was fired Thursday afternoon and started shooting-up the successful business, and killing founder Reuven Rahamim, his "right-hand man" Rami Cooks, and three others, including a UPS driver finishing his route for the day.

Family and friends honored Rahamim and Cooks at separate memorial services Sunday afternoon.

As far as what happens now, one of Accent's vendors and business partners says a group of executives has been working since the shooting to make sure the sign manufacturer -- and Rahamim's legacy, survive and thrive for years to come.

"It's going to be really tough for them to walk into the building, but we hope there will be some healing. And they will want to come back," said Jim Dow. "They're going to come back strong. It'll take a little time, but they'll be there."

Funeral and memorial services for Ron Edberg and Jacob Beneke will take place Tuesday and Wednesday. No plans have been announced for UPS driver Keith Besinski.
