D.C. police say one person suffered severe burns after a two-car accident that sparked a fire.

WRC-TV reports that three people were hospitalized as a result of the accident, which occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington.

Police are investigating what led the two cars to collide. It's not clear exactly how the fire started.
