Stray bullet misses mother, daughter in apartment

Posted: Updated:

A mother and daughter thought they were safe in their apartment Sunday afternoon when the pair narrowly avoided getting hit by a stray bullet.

The shooting happened at the Shell gas station on Martin L. King, Jr. Boulevard near Fairburn Road. A bystander was caught in the crossfire and ended up being shot in the hand.

While this was occurring, bullets were flying into a nearby apartment where Krystal Stepp and her child were staying. Stepp showed FOX 5 News where those bullets went through and ended up. They say they are thankful that neither one of them were hit.

Police say they later picked up two possible suspects along Fairburn Road near Stepp's apartment complex.
