Sexual assaults in Montgomery Co. linked

GERMANTOWN, Md. -

Montgomery County Police have a warning for women living in Germantown and Gaithersburg. Investigators have linked several sexual assaults to one man and there is new concern that he's active again.

The most recent case involves a "peeping tom", spotted outside an apartment complex along Marathon Circle in Gaithersburg last weekend. There was also a violent home invasion along Metz Dr. in Germantown on September 2nd. In that incident, the intruder was armed with a knife. The victim struggled with him and was cut on the hand. Then the suspect took off.

Police believe he is the same man wanted in several attacks over the past two years. In the summer of 2010, there were two cases of elderly women raped in their beds in Germantown. The suspect returned to the home of one victim in 2011 and sexually assaulted her again. Those cases were linked by DNA. Police released composite sketches of the suspect at the time, but caution it's highly possible his appearance has changed.

There was another sexual assault in a home along Clopper Rd. in Gaithersburg in August of 2011. DNA could not rule out the suspect in that case.

Each time a suspect got inside one of the victims' homes, it was through an unlocked window or door. Police are asking residents to double check those locks, especially at night.
