A 47-year-old Culpeper man has been arrested after police discovered more than 100 suspected marijuana plants growing in his basement.

James Berry has been charged with felony possession with intent to distribute more than five pounds of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana not for personal use.

A search warrant executed at the home in the 300 block of Wayland Road found about 20 pounds of dried marijuana in addition to the plants. Police say the basement was sectioned off with three indoor grow tents and two rooms containing equipment used to grow and nourish the plants.

Police estimate the street value of the marijuana to be about $300,000.

Police say this was the largest marijuana grow operation seen in Culpeper.
