$2 Million Bathroom In New York Draws Critics

Posted: Updated:

Most people don't often use the words "beautiful" or "art symbol" to describe a public bathroom, but in New York, that's exactly what some are calling a new bathroom worth more than $2 million.

The new brick bathrooms at a park in Queens have a lot of people talking.

Critics say spending more than $2 million on a bathroom is way too much and some claim the bathrooms could have been built for less than half the price.

A spokesperson for the local parks department tells FOX 5 in New York that the bathrooms have to use more durable materials because public buildings have more intense use. The spokesperson also says the builder was the second lowest of 14 bids.

But some people who frequent the park say the bathrooms were a long time coming and they're happy to finally have them on the grounds.
