Police are searching for a pair of cross-dressing robbers who tied up a clerk and robbed a pawn shop in Marietta.
Investigators for the Marietta Police Department released a video to FOX 5 News showing the two men entering the Cobb Pawn Shop located in the 1600 block of Cobb Parkway around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18th. One of the men was dressed in a wig and yellow purse. The other wore a dark windbreaker and carried a red purse.
"Both of them were carrying purses and, according to the employee, both of them were acting in kind of feminine natures," said Officer David Baldwin of the Marietta Police Department.
Police said that dressing as women allowed the suspect to carry large purses into the store.
"In this case, it could be a multi-purpose thing. Obviously, it does add to the appearance of them acting women, but it also disguises the hand gun, and it also assists them if they're trying to steal anything in order to get any items out of the store," Baldwin said.
The video shows one of the suspects pulling a gun from his purse and pointing at the clerk. The pair then proceeds to tie him up before making off with jewelry and money. They pair of cross-dressing thieves fled in a dark, newer model Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Anyone with information on this armed robbery should call the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
