The D.C. Police Department is bringing back its controversial breathalyzer program after a 20 month overhaul.

Officers will begin testing the breaths of suspected drunk drivers on Friday.

The department suspended the program after the calibration and accuracy of its breathalyzer machines were questioned.

They've since developed new software.

D.C. also has new drunk driving laws that mandate stiffer punishments.
