Like a lot of kids, I grew up daydreaming about game-winning home runs and last-second touchdown catches… and like a lot of us, I still do!
But somewhere along the line, I left the spectacular up to the athletes... to embrace my role as spectator. I’ve turned it into a career… that’s right, I watch sports for a living!
I count my blessings daily!
My first job, at 15 years old, was sitting in a small wooden box perched atop the little league baseball fields in Campbell, California keeping score and announcing batters. It paid $10 per game and a hot dog – dream job!
Funny how life works. All these years later, same field and still a dream job… minus the hot dog.
I came to D.C. in the fall of 2012 as the Sports Director at FOX 5 and have enjoyed every minute. My first few weeks on the job included a champagne shower as the Nats won the NL East, and witnessing a Redskins winning streak that ended with a NFC East Title. Good timing, right?
I’ve had the privilege of covering some major sporting events like the Super Bowl, BCS Championship game, PGA Championship, NCAA Tournament, and the NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL playoffs. I’ve also interviewed some sporting legends from Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods to Pete Rose and Smokin’ Joe Frazier.
Before coming to the Nation’s Capital, I spent three years at KPHO in Phoenix. The four years prior to that, I cut my teeth in live television in a wonderful part of the country - Tulsa, Oklahoma at KOTV. My professional career began with simultaneous jobs as a reporter for Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area, radio jockey at KRTY-FM, and production hand at KNTV. All three based in my native Bay Area, CA.
I graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas with a degree in TV/Radio. I played football for the Bison, made great friends, drank sweet tea, and imagined a career talking to folks on TV.
With my wife Carina and son Carson, we live in Montgomery County and attend National Community Church. If you see me on the golf course or at the grocery store, say Hi!
