Ex- police chief Kerik to testify at trial

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Disgraced ex-New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik is to testify for the prosecution at the perjury trial of two former friends.

According to The New York Times the Bronx DA's office says Kerik will testify at Frank and Peter DiTommaso's trial. Their case dates to a 2006 grand jury investigation of Kerik, who's serving a 4-year term in federal prison.

The brothers' case is set to begin Monday and expected to last a month. It's not clear when Kerik will testify.

They had told a grand jury their construction company hadn't paid for renovations to Kerik's apartment. Kerik later pleaded guilty to receiving $165,000 in free renovations.

He's also pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the White House while being vetted for the Homeland Security post in 2004.
