Controversial ad to be posted in 10 subway stations Monday

A controversial ad Muslim groups say is a "hate speech" will be displayed in several subway stations on Monday.

The ad reads: "In any war, between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man – support Israel – defeat Jihad."

Critics say the ad is hateful. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority initially refused to run saying it was "demeaning." But U.S. District Court Judge Paul Engelmayer ruled last month that it is protected speech under the First Amendment.

Pamela Geller, who once headed a campaign against an Islamic center near the September 11, 2001 terror attack site, won a court order to post the ad in 10 subway stations on Monday.

Geller said she is not against all Muslims – just extremism.

"The assassination of Ambassador Stevens was savagery. Any war on the innocent civilian is savagery," said Geller. "If they really want to make a change, the idea should be change - effective change - not just expression of anger and frustration."

There is a concern the ad will create more unrest in the Middle East. Geller says the ad campaign was planned well before the recent violence in the Middle East.

The ads will be posted in the subways for around a month.
