DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -

An accident in Detroit claimed the life of an elderly woman driving to church over the weekend. Meanwhile, police there are also investigating two other fatal hit and runs.

"We are trying to get justice for the families and get some questions answered," said Officer Scott Sheets with the Detroit Police Fatal Squad.

On Saturday, September 7 around 11:30 p.m. on Gratiot Avenue near Houston Whittier, police say the driver of a dump truck crashed into a 57-year-old woman, who was in the road, but instead of stopping, the driver of the truck kept going.

"There was no attempt to stop. The vehicle never returned to the accident scene," Sheets explained.

We're told police have located the suspect vehicle.

Then on Saturday, September 15, there was another hit and run on West Warren near Auburn. Around 11:45 p.m., police say a dark-colored GMC pickup truck hit a 40-year-old woman as she crossed the street. Surveillance video shows the driver stop, and then take off.

"This is not a mistake by any means. This is someone who's attempting to avoid prosecution or the investigation," Sheets said.

The other deadly accident involved an 86-year-old woman. She was on her way to church Sunday morning, but she never made it.

That accident happened at Seven Mile and Woodward. A 22-year-old woman driving southbound crashed into 86-year-old Williese Hunt as she drove across Woodward. It appears one of the women ran a red light, but the case is still under investigation.

In her tight-knit neighborhood where she lived for 49 years, everyone knew Mama Hunt and loved her.

"Sweet, loving woman, that's what she was, and would help anybody that she could," said Mildred Jackson.

"She was a beautiful person," said Reginald Thomas.

Anyone with any information on these cases is asked to contact the Detroit Police Fatal Squad at (313) 596-1462.
