SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (MyFox Detroit) -

Police say a 29-year-old man stole a car with a three-year-old boy inside and led police on high-speed pursuit that began in Pontiac and ended in Southfield Monday morning.

Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe says the suspect stole the red Toyota Corolla from Paddock and Auburn Streets in Pontiac around 5:30 a.m. A chase led them to the Lodge freeway where the suspect exited at Lahser, drove over a median and crashed into a building before coming to a stop.

Police say the three-year-old did not suffer any injuries since he was wearing a seatbelt in the backseat. He was taken by deputies and returned to his family.

Three police cruisers were damaged during the chase.

Deputies have reason to believe the suspect knows the woman he owned the stolen vehicle. His identity has not yet been released.
