DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -

Members of the Detroit Police Officers Association rallied Friday outside the home of Gary Brown. Before he was on the city council, Brown was a city cop for almost 30 years, but now some officers are calling him a "liar" and a "Judas".

The officers say the city council president pro-tem voted against a millage that could've helped the police department.

"We put our lives on the line every day for the citizens of the City of Detroit," said Detroit Police Officer Auston Carr. "All we're asking is to just be treated fair."

Detroit Police officers were recently forced to take a ten percent pay cut when they say they've already given so much.

Carr said he has given all he that can.

"Sleepless nights, not being able to eat, worrying about how I'm going to pay my bills. I just gave my car back to the bank the other day, so I couldn't afford my car."

So they took their message to the streets and marched from the Twelfth Precinct down Seven Mile for 15 minutes to Councilman Gary Brown's front door.

They say Brown was a part of the brotherhood, and now he has turned his back on his family.

"Gary Brown was (in) the police department for 26 years, has not been a supporter of the police department or the citizens. Gary Brown voted against a millage that would've put more police officers on the street, but he supported a millage for the DIA. Now last I checked, I haven't seen any art saving lives," said Detroit Police Officer John Bennett.

Fox 2 went to ask Brown what he thinks about all of this, if he thinks he has a higher obligation to police and if he had a message to these officers, but no one answered the door.

During the protest, officers turned towards Brown's house and took a moment of silence for fallen West Bloomfield Officer Patrick O'Rourke, who was killed this week in the line of duty.

"I'm sure he hears us. We want him to hear us. We want the mayor to hear us. We want all city elected officials to hear us, that we know they don't take us serious, but we have to take this to a whole (new) level so they can understand this is serious," Bennett told us.

Officers say despite the cuts, they are coming to work every day putting their lives on the line just to make ends meet, something they think Brown has forgotten.

We did reach out to Brown's camp for comment. We were told that Brown supports the officers' right to free speech, but other than that he will have no comment.
