DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -

A 14-year-old told police she was at Van Dyke and McNichols on her way home from high school around 7:15 Thursday night. She got off one DDOT bus and was walking over to wait for another when a car with three men inside pulled up.

"They swooped in, swooped her up, threw something over her head and took her," the girl's mother explained.

She said her daughter couldn't see where they took her because they put something over her head, but they made her get out of the car and go inside, maybe an abandoned house, where she told police she was raped. During that time she was able to get a look at her attacker.

"He's a light-skinned complected male, short curly hair. He might have a process in his hair. He has a Seven Mile tattoo on his arm," her mother told us.

She was dropped off near Wilfred and Dickerson. Fortunately, the owner of a corner store was there to help.

"We called the police. Police came right away, EMS also," said Jason Hwier. "I feel bad for her."

Police talked to the teen Thursday night. A rape kit was conducted at the hospital, and investigators were interviewing her again on Friday.

Meantime, her mother is encouraging parents to walk with their children to and from the bus stop before and after school.

The case was originally about workplace discrimination. Now it's dragged on for more than a decade despite the case appearing to be one that the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation can't win.
