NEW YORK -
Remember last fall when everyone was expecting Apple to announce the iPhone 5 -- and some people were disappointed that it was "only" the iPhone 4s?
Now it's a pretty safe bet that today's announcement from Apple will be for the newest incarnation of the iPhone -- and that it will be named the "5."
As usual, Apple isn't saying anything about today's media event in San Francisco today, but the email invite sent to journalists contains a shadow in the shape of a "5."
And it's being held at a venue where Apple has launched products before.
The new model is expected to work with fourth-generation, or 4G, cellular networks.
It's also possible that the screen will be bigger.
Apple is also about to upgrade its phone software.
Still unknown is whether Apple will announce a smaller version of its iPad today.
