The Virginia family of a grandmother and her grandson killed by a drunk driver on September 4, 2009 came together on the anniversary of the crash to remember those they lost and to push for tougher penalties.

27-year-old William John Mallory was driving home from a Jimmy Buffett concert when he slammed into the back of a car driven by Suzie Delgado at the Manassas intersection of University Boulevard and Prince William Parkway.

Police said Mallory's blood alcohol content was nearly double the legal limit. Delgado and her 12-year-old nephew were seriously hurt, but her mother, Rebecca Sacra, and her 2-year-old son, Jonathan, were killed.

A cross marks the scene of the crash, and after prayer and a reading, the small crowd released balloons at the Tuesday night vigil.

Family members are also pushing for tougher penalties. Mallory was sentenced to a total of 20 years with 17 years suspended and he was released from prison in March.
