A Cartersville man struck with flesh-eating bacteria in May is recovering after being hospitalized again.

Bobby Vaughn was on a slow, painful road to recovery after contracting flesh-eating bacteria when FOX 5 first interviewed him in May. He'd just been released from the hospital after spending a grueling four weeks in an Augusta medical facility. The Cartersville man had no had no idea how he got it.

"There are many ways I could have, but no, there's no way to know," said Vaughn.

The self-employed landscaper was back at work, recovering from six grueling surgeries and trying to get his life back on track when he was dealt another devastating blow about three weeks ago.

"It started out the same way. Felt a little bump didn't think much of it -- big mistake," said Vaughn.
    
Vaughn discovered a new lump in the same area where his body was first ravaged by the disease. He says his worst fears were realized when he went to the hospital.

"I'm lucky to have the surgeon that I had because she went ahead and took me in that night, cut it out of me. It ended up being an abscess that would have turned into it. I found out from my infectious disease doctor that I will be more susceptible to getting this stuff now, I will have to worry about that the rest of my life," said Vaughn.

Vaughn spent another five days at the hospital. He's in a lot of physical pain but, despite the latest setback, continues to work on launching a charity to help children undergoing medical treatment.

"What we are looking for is to help children and they don't have to come to us, we will find them," said Vaughn.

Vaughn expects to announce his new charity in the next couple of weeks.  He owns Alpha and Omega Landscaping and says donors will be able to contribute through a website that he'll be launching at that time.
