LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -

An early morning fire has left 14 people without a place to live Sunday.

According to a spokesperson with Gwinnett County Fire and Rescue, the fire broke out in the Sweetwater Apartments in Lawrenceville around 7 a.m. Sunday.

Police and emergency workers were able to safely get everyone evacuated from the complex.

One person was taken to the hospital for inhaling too much smoke.

A firefighter rescued a cat from one of the badly burned units.

Investigators believe the fire was an accidental. It may have been caused by a cigarette butt that was not completely put out.
