Man saves 4-foot snake constrictor -- twice

CHASKA, Minn. (KMSP) -

Kevin Fawver told FOX 9 News he had a five hour stand-off with a 4-foot snake after he found it along a road in Chaska and tried to save it.

Eventually, Fawver put it in his truck -- but before long, the snake slithered out of its bag and into a nook in the trunk.

Carver County sheriff's deputies and Chanhassen Police tried to help the snake get out, but it just wouldn't budge.

Finally, Fawver and his brother took matters into their own hands. They ripped open the trunk like a can of sardines and pulled the snake out.

The snake didn't have a scratch in it, and no one was hurt.

"I feel great. After we couldn't get it out today, I felt so ill because it was so pretty," Fawver said. "I'm extremely happy we saved an animal."

Sheriff's deputies told FOX 9 News think the snake is a boa constructor.

Fawver says he'll keep the snake overnight and work with the Animal Humane Society to find it a good home.
