Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

What is causing the spike of recent robberies in D.C.? The D.C. Police Union says there are not enough officers to do the job.

This weekend, there was another spike in robberies. The D.C. Police Union provided FOX 5 with an online list to show the numbers for crimes from Friday until Sunday. The list shows a total of 46 robberies in that three-day period, 20 of them were robberies with a gun.

Mayor Vincent Gray acknowledges a spike in recent robberies at a press conference last week and said efforts were being made to stop them.

A spokesperson for Chief of Police Cathy Lanier told FOX 5 Lanier was not available for an interview on Monday, but would address robbery questions at a community meeting on Tuesday evening.
