LionTown sculptures unleashed on streets of metro Detroit

Posted: Updated:

Lions have taken over the streets of metro Detroit in an effort to raise money for charity.

The Children's Charities Coalition fundraiser, called LionTown 2012, features 50 fiberglass lion sculptures sitting nearly five feet tall and decorated and designed by local artists.

The lions can be seen throughout Birmingham, Bloomfield and the metro Detroit area. The sculptures will be auctioned off at the LionTown Auction Event at Ford Field, Oct. 16.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the outreach programs of the Children's Charities Coalition and the Detroit Lions Foundation.
