West Nile Spraying

Weather permitting, the NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene will spray for the West Nile virus this week in portions of Queens.

Parts of the following neighborhoods will be targeted:

Arverne, Bayswater, Edgemere, Far Rockaway, Somerville, Cambria Heights, Saint Albans, Springfield Gardens, Baisley Pond Park, and Roy Wilkens Park.

The spraying is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, and Wednesday, August 22, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

West Nile Virus is a mosquito-borne virus that can infect humans, birds, horses and other animals, according to the DHMH.

Humans infected with West Nile may exhibit short-lived,  flu-like symptoms or no symptoms at all.
