Police are working to figure out a motive for what they have classified as an aggravated assault. It was an attack that left a D.C. husband and father clinging to life.
29-year-old Thomas Maslin, who goes by T.C., was hanging out with friends at "Tune In" restaurant on Pennsylvania Ave. Friday night, after attending a Washington Nationals game.
They say he left to walk the few blocks to his Capitol Hill home around 12:45 a.m.
Saturday morning, his wife Abby awoke to find he never returned. At 8:30 a.m. police responded to a call for a man found lying unconscious on the front porch of a home steps from Eastern Market. Turns out that man was T.C. and he had been assaulted, hit in the head with an unknown object.
Maslin's wife says he has undergone surgery. Doctors removed part of his skull to ease swelling to the brain. He remains in a coma in critical condition.
