BOWIE, Md. -
A man is dead after police say he accidentally caught himself on fire, while trying to rob a cab driver.
Investigators say the robber got into the cab at the Largo Metro Station Friday afternoon and told the driver to head to North View Drive in Bowie, Maryland.
When they arrived, we're told the robber demanded money from the driver, then hit the driver on the head and poured some sort of flammable liquid on him.
The liquid somehow ignited as the driver got out and ran to safety.
The robber died as the cab went up in flames.
The driver had minor burns but will be ok.
