A body found earlier this month inside a box in an attic in Queens has been identified as Samantha Bermudez, 19, of W. 161st Street in Manhattan, police said.

Bermudez had been reported missing by family.

Devendra Autar, 32, hung himself back on July 20 and left a suicide note saying "I'm going to go to hell for what I did."

At the time, his family didn't know what the note was referring to.

Autar's brother, who is a policeman, arrived at the house at 97-26 Van Wyck Expressway around 11:40 a.m. last Saturday to pack his brother's belonging when he smelled a stench in the attic.

The officer found a woman's body in a box.

The woman's remains were taken to the medical examiner's office where a spokeswoman said that she died from stab wounds to the torso and neck.

According to the medical examiner, she apparently died around the time relatives of Autar found his body in the room he rented in the ramshackle three-family home.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
