Sisters' gun range caters to women, focuses on safety

Posted: Updated:
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

There's a lot of attention now on guns and gun ownership, so Good Day Atlanta's Gurvir Dhindsa visited a gun range in Sandy Springs which prides itself on teaching responsible gun ownership.  There's also something else that makes the Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range different: it's women-friendly, and women-owned.

Cara Workman and her sister Robyn Workman Marzullo opened the range two years ago as a business venture.  It has become their passion to make women feel welcome in the range.  When you walk in, you're likely to see a woman manning the front desk.  There are also female instructors.

"When you walk in, you are treated like a person," said Workman.  "It doesn't matter if you have never shot before, or if you are a recreational competitive shooter."

While Cara and Robyn say they want their customers to enjoy shooting, the emphasis is on gun safety and education.

"If they are used in a proper and safe way, in a safe environment, and you are taught properly--it's not a bad thing," said Marzullo.

Cara and Robyn recently opened a second gun range in Norcross.
