WASHINGTON -
Hundreds of people gathered in Lafayette Park near the White House for a vigil Sunday to honor the victims of the Sikh Temple shooting in Wisconsin. It drew Sikhs as far away as India.
Former Governor George Allen, who's running for a U.S. Senate seat was there to express his outrage.
So were other local politicians and community supporters, who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Sikhs to send a message against religious and racial inequality.
True to the tenet of the Sikh faith of equality for all, the event was organized by two young women, who enlisted the help of ten local temples. They also created a Facebook page to get the word out.
Local temples are being urged to open their doors to people of all faiths on Sunday to continue the healing.
