It was a mad rush to save a woman's life. Her vehicle burst in to flames Sunday night on Detroit's east side after the driver of a stolen car lost control. A good samaritan rushed to help the woman as police were rushing to catch the suspect.

Fox 2 has video of a car in flames. That's how the chase ended in a Detroit neighborhood. Now, an innocent woman is in this hospital. It started in St. Clair Shores a little after 5pm Sunday. St. Clair Shores police tell Fox 2 one of their officers was pursuing a man driving a stolen minivan. The suspect led police across 8 Mile into Detroit's east side. The suspect approached Hayes just as 59-year-old Joyce Brooks was driving by.
Both vehicles collided. We talked to a bystander who pulled Brooks out of the burning car. The suspect took off running, but officers caught up with him a short time later. Now, people in the neighborhood are demanding answers and asking whether this chase was more dangerous than it was worth.
