Many faiths gather to remember victims of Sikh temple shooting

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) -

An excruciating week came to a close Friday evening in a community-wide prayer service at Minnesota's Sikh temple in Bloomington.

"It has been a challenging week can say that for most of us," said temple member Angela Madan. "Just trying to come to terms with how much anger can exist in the community."

The remembered the victims of last Sunday's mass killing at a religious temple outside Milwaukee, where six members were gunned down in the holiest of places.

The violence and hatred motivated many in the Twin Cities of different faith to show solidarity at Friday night's service.

Visitors were on hand to grieve, and to learn more about their neighbors and colleagues.

"It seems so open, so accepting. The principles are so loving and loving," said attendee Ben Cooper. "Seems a shame that they were the ones picked on."

Friday night was about healing and bridging faiths, which received an outpouring that meant so much to so many during a time of overwhelming pain.

"We have resilience, it's okay," said Madan. "We will go on from here. Strength in knowing that we are strong community together. And we will deal with it together."
