LEWISDALE, Md. -

Prince George's County Police say they have arrested a Chillum man in connection to two separate abductions of two young girls.

Charles Amofa, 25, is facing kidnapping, sexual assault and child abuse charges.

Police say his most recent attack occurred Monday afternoon at around 1 p.m. They say a six-year-old girl was with her father at the Value Village Thrift Store on University Boulevard in Hyattsville when Amofa managed to lure her away from the store to a nearby playground in Lewisdale where he sexually assaulted the girl.

The father contacted police when he noticed his daughter missing at the store.

Prince George's County Officer Fredys Castro-Rivas was able to locate Amofa and the girl at the park.

Police say Amofa confessed to the assault and confessed to another incident on July 9.

Police say surveillance video from the thrift store on July 9 shows Amofa taking an eight-year-old girl from the thrift store. He took her to a vacant property where he attempted to sexually assault her, but she escaped.

The father of the girl from Monday's abduction said in a statement that Officer Castro-Rivas is a hero and urges parents to watch their children more carefully.
