Penn State Leaders Respond To Sports Illustrated Cover

Posted: Updated:
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -

Three Penn State University leaders ban together in the wake of a powerful Sports Illustrated cover.

The magazine cover reads, "We Were Penn State," a play on the popular "We Are Penn State" chant.

The cover made headlines after the NCAA handed down unprecedented sanctions against the university over the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Penn State President Rodney Erickson, Acting Athletic Director Dave Joyner and football Coach Bill O'Brien were quick to give a response.

The letter reads in part, "Is this the end for Penn State? Hardly. We aren't going anywhere. We are, and always will be, Penn State."

The complete response appears in this week's Sports Illustrated issue.
