UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -

A former University of Maryland student charged with making online threats of a campus rampage has pleaded guilty.

Alexander Song pleaded guilty Tuesday to disturbing the peace at a school and misuse of telephone facilities.

Prince George's County prosecutors say Song will continue to receive mental health treatment and must complete 200 hours of community service as part of his plea.

Song was arrested in March after police say he wrote online that he planned "to kill enough people to make it to national news." Police say the honors student told officers that he had been under stress. Officers found no weapons in his dorm room or in his parents' house.

A university spokesman says Song, who had been an honors student, has subsequently withdrawn from classes.
