Body found in Fort Washington creek identified as missing DC woman Shavon Phillips

PALMER PARK, Md. -

Prince George's County Police say a body found in a creek in Fort Washington has been identified as a 22-year-old D.C. woman who has been reported missing since July 30.

Police say officers found the decomposed body of Shavon Phillips in a duffel bag at a nearby creek in the 12200 block of Braemer Circle on August 1 at around 8:32 p.m.

D.C. Police say Phillips was last seen leaving from the 400 block of 61st Street in Northeast D.C.

According to Phillips' family, she had just finished nursing school and had a new job lined up.

Phillips leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.
