WASHINGTON -

Airport authorities say passengers were offloaded from a US Airways flight from Washington to New York after an engine warning light came on, but no one was injured.

Fire officials were called at about 2:40 p.m. Friday to respond to an "aircraft emergency" near the north end of the airfield at Reagan National Airport.

A spokeswoman for U S Airways says that while the flight was on the runway prior to takeoff an engine heat warning indication light came on. The flight was US Airways Express flight 3652 headed to Islip, N.Y. A total of 49 passengers and three crew were onboard. Passengers were transported back to the terminal.

Airport operations were stopped during the initial incident response and while passengers were offloaded. Normal runway operations resumed at 3:15 p.m.
