HERNDON, Va. -

Police say a woman killed in a hit and run accident, and a man found dead in a creek near that accident scene, were husband and wife.

While investigating the hit and run accident that killed 35-year-old Simret Tekle Woldetensae early Wednesday morning in the 600 block of Center Street, police found the body of a man in a nearby creek.

Investigators were able to identify the man as Fitsum Abrha Gebretatios, the 32-year-old husband of the hit and run victim.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.

Both Gebretatio and Woldetensae lived in the 600 block of Center Street.

Their three children are in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Gebretatio's vehicle, a 2007 black Toyota Camry, is being processed for evidence.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Herndon Police Department at 703-435-6846.
