In Frederick, Maryland, friends and family of Robyn Gardner held a special event Wednesday night to mark the one-year anniversary of the 35-year-old's disappearance in Aruba.
They are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
Gardner's travel companion, Gaithersburg resident Gary Giordano, reported her missing to Aruban authorities on August 2, 2011, saying she didn't return to shore after snorkeling.
Giordano spent months in an Aruban jail, but was released because prosecutors didn't have enough evidence to continue holding him.
The family has earmarked any donations that come in for a Frederick-based domestic violence non-profit called the Heartly House. For more information, go to http://www.heartlyhouse.org/.
