WASHINGTON -
Abortion rights groups and D.C. leaders are teaming up to fight a bill Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives that would ban abortions in the 20th week of pregnancy.
Arizona Rep. Trent Franks (R) says "at 20 weeks the unborn child feels pain." In a telephone interview with FOX 5, Franks called late-term abortions one of the greatest civil rights tragedies in the nation today.
But D.C. Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton says Franks is picking on the District and warns he has an even bigger agenda - to wage a national campaign to overturn the constitutional right for women to have abortions.
Planned Parenthood Federation of American and NARA: Pro-Choice America say they are scoring the bill to let women all over the country know how lawmakers vote on it.
