Metro is testing a way to let customers pay for metered parking by phone.
Metro says starting Monday customers at the Rockville and Fort Totten stations will be able to use Parkmobile, a pay-by-phone parking system.
Customers can use the system for Rockville's 122 parking lot spaces as well as a 22-space Kiss & Ride. The system will also be available at Fort Totten's 32-space Kiss & Ride. The cost will be $1 per hour or $5 for the day in Rockville. Parkmobile also charges a 32-cent convenience fee per transaction.
Parkmobile already provides pay-by-phone service at about 17,000 metered spaces in Washington.
Parkmobile's mobile application is available on iPhone, Android or Blackberry.
